Responsibilities:
- Consult with clients to understand their unique needs and objectives for estate planning.
- Draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other legal documents in accordance with client instructions and applicable laws.
- Assist trustees and beneficiaries with the administration of trusts, including asset management and distribution.
- Guide clients through the probate process, from validating wills to resolving disputes among heirs or beneficiaries.
- Address legal issues affecting older adults, such as long-term care and Medicaid planning and guardianship proceedings.
- Represent clients in trust and estate litigation, including will contests and breach of fiduciary duty claims.
- Attend relevant events and conduct educational seminars for potential clients.
- Advise clients on a variety of tax law matters, including but not limited to tax planning, compliance, and controversy
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support clients' needs
- Represent clients in tax disputes and negotiations with government agencies
- Provide strategic guidance to clients on complex tax matters
- Manage client relationships and ensure client satisfaction
- Stay up-to-date on changes in tax law and regulations and provide timely updates to clients
Skills & Experience:
- New York, New Jersey, Florida Bar Admission
- Juris Doctor from accredited law school
- LLM preferred in Taxation or Estate Planning
- 3-5 years’ experience in estate/trust law practice environment
- Exposure to Microsoft Now / LexisNexis / PerfectLaw or Westlaw software
- Strong written, oral communication & presentation skills.
- In-depth knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations
