Healthcare Construction Principal PE
Responsibilities
- Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams in the planning, design, and execution of complex healthcare projects, ensuring alignment with client objectives, contractual requirements, and applicable codes and regulations.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to healthcare clients, developing strong relationships, understanding their long-term needs, and identifying opportunities for repeat and expanded business.
- Direct project scope, budgets, schedules, staffing, and resources to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
- Oversee project financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, profitability, and resource management, while identifying and mitigating project risks.
- Ensure technical designs and project deliverables comply with applicable healthcare, building, mechanical, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams by providing technical guidance, coaching, performance feedback, and opportunities for professional growth.
- Effectively communicate complex engineering concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including clients, project stakeholders, and executive leadership.
- Champion sustainable and high-performance design strategies that promote energy efficiency, occupant wellness, and improved healthcare outcomes, incorporating current industry research and best practices.
- Serve as Lead Engineer and/or Engineer of Record on significant projects, maintaining technical quality, accountability, and adherence to project objectives.
- Collaborate closely with architects, owners, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, from concept and design through construction administration and commissioning.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of professional engineering experience, including significant experience designing hospital and healthcare facilities from concept design through construction administration and commissioning.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Proven experience leading project teams as a Project Manager, Project Director, Lead Engineer, or similar senior-level role on medium to large-scale healthcare projects.
- Strong technical expertise and leadership experience in mechanical engineering and building systems design.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong client relationships and successfully lead collaborative, multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication, presentation, planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining project quality, schedule, budget, and client expectations.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas required.
